May26th, 2024 – Trinity Sunday, Year B

ENTRANCE ANTIPHON

Blessed be the holy and indivisible Trinity,

creator and ruler of the universe,

who reigns in glory through all eternity.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,

and the love of God,

and the communion of the Holy Spirit

be with you all.

And with your spirit.

Brethren (brothers and sisters), let us acknowledge our sins,

and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.

I confess to almighty God

and to you, my brothers and sisters,

that I have greatly sinned,

in my thoughts and in my words,

in what I have done and in what I have failed to do,

[All strike their breast]

through my fault, through my fault,

through my most grievous fault;

therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin,

all the Angels and Saints,

and you, my brothers and sisters,

to pray for me to the Lord our God.

May almighty God have mercy on us,

forgive us our sins,

and bring us to everlasting life.

Amen.

GLORIA

Glory to God in the highest,

and on earth peace to people of good will.

We praise you,

we bless you,

we adore you,

we glorify you,

we give you thanks for your great glory,

Lord God, heavenly King,

O God, almighty Father.

Lord Jesus Christ, only Begotten Son,

Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father,

you take away the sins of the world,

have mercy on us;

you take away the sins of the world,

receive our prayer;

you are seated at the right hand of the Father,

have mercy on us.

For you alone are the Holy One,

you alone are the Lord,

you alone are the Most High,

Jesus Christ,

with the Holy Spirit,

in the glory of God the Father.

Amen.

COLLECT

Let us pray.

O God our Father, who, by sending to mankind the Word of truth and the Spirit of holiness, have revealed to us your glorious mystery: grant that as we adore the unity of your Divine Majesty we may ever profess the true faith and recognise the glory of the everlasting Trinity. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Amen.

LITURGY OF THE WORD

FIRST READING

A reading from the Book of Exodus (Ex 33:18-23, 34:5-7a)

In those days. Moses said to the Lord, ‘I beg you ,show me your glory.’ And he said, ‘I will make all my goodness pass before you, and will proclaim before you my name “The Lord”; and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy to whom I will show mercy. But,’ he said, ‘you cannot see my face; for man shall not see me and live.’ And the Lord said, ‘Behold, there is a place by me where you shall stand upon the rock; and while my glory passes by I will put you in a cleft of the rock, and I will cover you with my hand until I have passed by; then I will take away my hand, and you shall see my back; but my face shall not be seen.’ And the Lord descended in the cloud and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the Lord. The Lord passes before him, and proclaimed, ‘The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in mercy and faithfulness, keeping merciful love to all generations.’

The Word of the Lord.

Thanks be to God.

PSALM

Psalm 62 (63)

R. I have searched for you, Lord, to gaze upon your glory.

O God, you are my God, for you I long,

my soul thirsts for you as a dry, weary land without water.

So I gaze on you in the sanctuary,

to see your strength and your glory. R.

For your love is better than life;

my lips will speak your praise.

So I will bless you all my life;

to you I lift up my hands. R.

My soul shall be filled as with a banquet,

my mouth shall praise you with joy.

On you I muse through the night,

for you have been my help.

In the shadow of your wings I rejoice. R.

EPISTLE

A reading from the Letter of St Paul to the Romans (Rom 8:1-9b)

My brothers, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and death. For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do: sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the just requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. To set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, indeed it cannot; and those who are in the flesh cannot please God. But you are not in the flesh, you are in the Spirit, if the Spirit of God really dwells in you.

The Word of the Lord.

Thanks be to God.

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION

Alleluia
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit;

to the God who was, who is, and who is to come.

Alleluia

GOSPEL

The Lord be with you

And with your spirit.

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to St John (15:24-27)

Glory to you, O Lord.

In that time. The Lord Jesus said to his disciples: ‘If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would not have sin; but now they have seen and hated both me and my Father. It is to fulfil the word that is written in their law, “They hated me without a cause.” But when the Counsellor comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness to me; and you also are witnesses, because you have been with me from the beginning.’

The Gospel of the Lord.

Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

AFTER THE GOSPEL

Glory be to the Father who reigns above the heavens,

and to the Son who shares his sovereignty;

sing glory to the Holy Spirit, all you blessed of the Lord.

PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL

Dear brothers and sisters, filled with paschal joy,

let us pray earnestly to God that he, who graciously listened

to the prayers and supplications of his beloved Son,

may now be pleased to look upon us in our lowliness.

Lord, in your mercy

Hear our prayer

CONCLUSION OF THE LITURGY OF THE WORD

Lord God, mighty Father, look upon your servants gathered to worship your glory. Bless them and protect them in the name of your only-begotten Son and in the power of the Holy Spirit. May they ever find their greatest joy in the declaration of your praise. Through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

THE LITURGY OF THE EUCHARIST

Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation,

for through your goodness we have received

the bread we offer you:

fruit of the earth and work of human hands,

it will become for us the bread of life.

Blessed be God forever.

Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation,

for through your goodness we have received

this wine we offer you:

fruit of the vine and work of human hands,

it will become our spiritual drink.

Blessed be God forever.

PROFESSION OF FAITH

I believe in one God,

the Father almighty,

maker of heaven and earth,

of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,

the Only begotten Son of God,

born of the Father before all ages.

God from God, Light from Light,

true God from true God,

begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;

through him all things were made.

For us men and for our salvation

he came down from heaven,

and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,

and became man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;

he suffered death and was buried,

and rose again on the third day

in accordance with the Scriptures.

He ascended into heaven

and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory

to judge the living and the dead

and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,

who proceeds from the Father and the Son,

with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified.

who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.

I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins

and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead

and the life of the world to come. Amen.

PRAYER OVER THE GIFTS

We invoke your name, O Father, over the gifts we present to you. Consecrate them with your might and make of us a worthy sacrifice to your praise.

Amen.

PREFACE

The Lord be with you.

And with your spirit.

Lift up your hearts.

We lift them up to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

It is right and just.

It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation

Always and everywhere to give you thanks

Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God:

Who with your only Son and the Holy Spirit

Are one God and one Lord:

Not in the unity of one single person

But in a Threefold yet single being;

And that which by your revelation

We believe as touching your glory,

That too we believe without distinction

Of your Son and of the Holy Spirit.

In professing your true and eternal Godhead

Three distinct persons we adore,

Though one in being and equal in majesty.

Earth and heaven praise you,

Angels and archangels worship you

And all the saints acclaim you, as we acclaim:

Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of hosts.

Heaven and earth are full of your glory.

Hosanna in the highest.

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.

Hosanna in the highest.

EUCHARISTIC PRAYER

You are indeed Holy, O Lord,

The fount of all holiness.

Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray,

by sending down your Spirit upon them like the dewfall,

so that they may become for us

the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.

At the time he was betrayed

And entered willingly into his Passion,

he took bread and, giving thanks, broke it,

and gave it to his disciples, saying:

Take this, all of you, and eat of it,

For this is my Body,

Which will be given up for you.

In a similar way, when supper was ended,

he took the chalice

and, once more giving thanks,

he gave it to his disciples, saying:

Take this, all of you, and drink from it,

for this is the chalice of my Blood,

the Blood of the new and eternal covenant,

Which will be poured out for you and for many

for the forgiveness of sins.

Do this in memory of me.

The mystery of faith.

We proclaim your Death, O Lord,

and profess your Resurrection

until you come again.

Therefore, as we celebrate

the memorial of his Death and Resurrection,

we offer you, Lord,

the Bread of life and the Chalice of salvation,

giving thanks that you have held us worthy

to be in your presence and minister to you.

Humbly we pray

that, partaking of the Body and Blood of Christ,

we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.

Remember, Lord, your Church,

spread throughout the world,

and bring her to the fullness of charity,

together with Francis our Pope

and Mario our Bishop,

and all the clergy.

Remember also our brothers and sisters

who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection,

and all who have died in your mercy:

welcome them into the light of your face.

Have mercy on us all, we pray,

that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God,

with blessed Joseph, her Spouse

with the blessed Apostles,

and all the Saints who have pleased you throughout the ages,

we may merit to be coheirs to eternal life,

and may praise and glorify you

through your Son, Jesus Christ.

Through him, and with him, and in him,

O God, almighty Father,

In the unity of the Holy Spirit,

all glory and honour is yours,

Forever and ever

Amen.

THE COMMUNION RITE

BREAKING OF THE BREAD

O blessed Trinity, to you do we lift up our voices;

we bow and bend low in the presence of your majesty;

in you do we firmly believe:

increase our faith.

At the Saviour’s command

and formed by divine teaching,

we dare to say:

Our Father, who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy Name,

thy kingdom come,

thy will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,

and forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us;

and lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil,

graciously grant peace in our days,

that, by the help of your mercy,

we may be always free from sin

and safe from all distress,

as we await the blessed hope

and the coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

For the kingdom,

the power and the glory are yours

now and for ever.

Lord Jesus Christ,

who said to your Apostles:

Peace I leave you, my peace I give you,

look not on our sins,

but on the faith of Your Church,

and graciously grant her peace and unity

in accordance with your will.

Who live and reign for ever and ever.

Amen.

The peace and communion of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always.

And with your spirit.

Behold the Lamb of God,

behold him who takes away the sins of the world.

Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.

Lord, I am not worthy

that you should enter under my roof,

but only say the word

and my soul shall be healed.

AT HOLY COMMUNION

This is the faith of the Church:

to believe in one God in three Persons

and to adore the blessed Trinity in one Godhead.

The Body of Christ.

Amen.

AFTER HOLY COMMUNION

Let us pray.

O Father, you have called us to participate in your banquet of grace. May our faith in the eternal and blessed Trinity and in the unity of your divine nature keep us in your grace all through our lives and at the hour of our death. Through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

The Lord be with you.

And with your spirit.

Kyrie, eleison. Kyrie, eleison. Kyrie, eleison.

May almighty God bless you,

the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Amen

Go in peace.

In the name of Christ.
